Spainability publishes the **Spainability Origins Map**: Spain's official INE census
(table 66322) reshaped into a town-by-town view of where people born abroad
actually live, plus Padrón Continuo nationality layers for UK and German
nationals (2022, 19 provinces).

- 62,007 Dutch-born residents in Spain, up +29% from 47,978 in 2021.
- 23,082 Swedish-born residents in Spain, up +22% from 18,943 in 2021.
- 269,861 UK nationals in the 19-province Padrón extract (1 Jan 2022) — nationality, not birth country.
- 107,278 German nationals in the same 2022 Padrón extract.
- 19.3% of Spain's population (9,464,176 people) is foreign-born.
- Americans concentrate in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and a handful of coastal/suburban towns.

## Honesty note (important for accurate citation)
Birth-country layers (U.S. / Dutch / Swedish) count residents **born in** a
country, not that country's citizens. UK and German layers count **nationals
on the municipal register** (2022) — a different measure and vintage. Cite
each layer with its label: "U.S.-born", "Dutch-born", "Swedish-born",
"UK nationals", or "German nationals".
